Oropa Way - Serra route - Last stage - From the Sanctuary of Graglia to the Sanctuary of Oropa

CDOS-04 The route is developed on the south side of the Biellese Alps, between the Valle Elvo and the Oropa Valley.

Left the Sanctuary of Graglia the itinerary crosses woods and pastures on the side of the Mombaron and then descends on a steep mulattage to cross the Elvo River, and then go back to the beautiful historical centre of Sordeflight.

From here you face a rather challenging path, between woods and pastures, with beautiful sights on the Padana Valley. It goes from the evocative oratorio of San Barnabas, it goes down to Pollone and thus goes back to Chiavolino, to continue in slight saliscens in Favaro. 

In the final stretch, the challenging D1 trail, which rises to the final destination of the Way, the scenic Sanctuary of Oropa, etched into a beautiful conca in the mountains.

In the event of heavy rains the D1 trail can become difficult due to numerous guadis, the last of which, at 1 km from the arrival, is particularly treacherous when the creek is in full. In this case you better walk the variant of the Tramvia.

Services: bar, convenience store, accommodation and restaurants at the Sanctuary in Graglia, Sordeflight, Pollone (but far from the path), Favaro, Sanctuary of Oropa

Variants: the crossroads for the Tramvia Variant (LINK) is clearly marked in the trait between Chiavolino and Favaro (km 9, 3).

In the winter months some traits of the route can present security problems due to snow and ice : inform yourself at the reception facilities on the condition of the route before you leave.
