Oropa Way - Serra route - Stage 3/4 - From Sala Biellese to the Sanctuary of Graglia
CDOS-03 We leave Serra Morenica to continue along along paths-balcony that give us splendid panoramas on the plain
N.B. : Whoever sleaps in Torrazzo must travel the Short Variant from Torrazzo to the Graglia Sanctuary
From the campsite or the B&B picks up the paved road in the direction of the centre of Sala Biellese, turns left to the height of the parish church to reach the provincial for Torrazzo, which leaves immediately to take right to the right a path that is subdued in the forest and after a few kilometres comes to the beautiful Lake Cossavella.
From here you leave the Serra Morena to reach Donato, where it is possible to refurbish, water supply and grocery shopping, before facing a series of rather demanding salifalls that lead up to the Graglia Sanctuary, at the slopes of the Mombaron, watershed between Piedmont and Val d' Aosta.
Fountains: at Sala Biellese (km 1, 0), in Donato (km 6, 7), on the climb after Netro (km 12, 9), in Campiglie (km 15, 1) and at the Sanctuary in Graglia.
Services: bars, minimarkets, lodgings and restaurants in Sala Biellese, Donato, Shrine of Graglia.
Variants: Who pernotts to Torrazzo, the next day must travel the short Variant from Torrazzo to the Graglia Sanctuary (LINK)
N.B.: a section of the path between Donato and Netro, near the locality of Castignolio, will be affected by extraordinary road maintenance works in the coming months. Pedestrian transit will be allowed, but we recommend the utmost caution due to the presence of moving construction vehicles.
In the winter months some traits of the route can present security problems due to snow and ice : inform yourself at the reception facilities on the condition of the route before you leave.
