Valle Cervo

56

With this itinerary we will first discover the Cervo Valley, and then go up to the Sanctuary of San Giovanni and continuing, we will tackle one of the most beautiful Biellese climbs, which after several hairpin bends as a true alpine pass will lead us to cross the Valley through a short tunnel and descend into the opposite Oropa Valley. Departure from Biella: Piazza Martiri where we will go up via Cavour for a short distance and then turn right onto via Cesare Battisti. We will continue straight until the traffic light and then turn left to the traffic circle where we will follow the signs to Tollegno. From here we will continue first towards Andorno then, still on the provincial road, we will pass Sagliano Micca until the locality “Balma” where we will turn right towards Quittengo. Past the Piccolo Borgo the road after a short descent will take us back to the provincial road and passing the village of Campiglia Cervo we will climb for 2 km until we pass a fork and, just after a bridge, we will turn left, towards the Sanctuary of San Giovanni. From here we will not be able to make a mistake: following the climb we will arrive at the Rosazza Tunnel, which once passed (a light is recommended), following the only road, will take us down to the sanctuary of Oropa. Once there we will ride backwards along the mythical “Ascent of the Giro”; descending on the road of the same name and never leaving it, it will take us to a fork. We will pass it by continuing straight ahead slightly uphill and in doing so we will find ourselves in the historic village of “Biella Piazzo.” Keeping to the central street following a short descent, at the intersection with Via Ivrea, we will turn left and then cross the next two traffic circles we will find. At the third traffic circle turn left onto via Pietro Micca, which will take us back to our starting point.
