Cycling through history and nature in the heart of the Baraggia

SI-2 A scenic loop from the medieval Ricetto of Candelo to the open landscapes of the Baraggia, cycling through history, vineyards, and stunning views.

This evocative loop route starts from the square of the Ricetto di Candelo, one of the best-preserved medieval villages in Italy.
After a short ride, you immerse yourself in the tranquillity of the Roggia della Marchesa, a gentle stream that accompanies the first stretch of the route with lush vegetation and the soothing sounds of nature.

From here, the path leads into the extraordinary Baraggia Nature Reserve, an area of unique charm that, with its almost African-like landscape and wide open spaces, offers breathtaking views of the Biellese Alps.
Cycling along its trails means experiencing an immersive journey through unspoilt nature and spectacular scenery.

Continuing on, you reach one of the most fascinating stops: the Castle of Castellengo, an elegant historic residence surrounded by vineyards and gentle hills. Here, time seems to stand still, offering a picturesque glimpse into history and tradition.

The return leg takes you again through stretches of Baraggia alternating with hay meadows, creating a perfect blend of wild nature and agricultural landscape, before arriving back at Candelo to complete this itinerary that combines history, nature, and breathtaking views.

This route is perfect for those who love exploring by bike, discovering ancient villages, medieval fortresses, and truly unique natural landscapes!
